About

The story of French club chairs begins in the 19th century, a time when refined aesthetics met the desire for comfort in the lounges and libraries of gentlemen's clubs. Originally conceived to envelop individuals in comfort as they enjoyed leisurely pursuits, these chairs quickly became symbols of sophistication and luxury.

Today, we continue this legacy, combining the heritage of French club chairs with modern sustainability practices.

four stages of making a club chair-from the making of the frame to handpainting and handwaxing of the finished product

We start in nature

We start by selecting the finest wood for our chairs. Kiln-dried wood has been used for centuries due to the long drying process that allows the wood to be sturdier, and more durable than any alternatives on the market. Making it ideal for furniture that will be passed down for generations.

Each club chair is a compilation of raw materials taken from the French countryside. Raw sheep skin, vegetal horse hair, and jute webbing are handled by expert craftsmen who see the pieces from start to finish.

Our experts take care of the rest

Our craftsmen are experts at what they do, being multigenerational craftsman who learned how to build and assemble chairs from their own fathers.
They are experts at making strong frames- all built and waxed by hand.

After assembling the hardwood frames, raw leather, vegetal horsehair, and jute webbing, our craftsman hand dye the almost finished club chair in one of our signature colors. In addition to being hand dyed by organic dyes, the club chairs will also be hand waxed to ensure the dye and leather stay in good conditions for years to come.

Each chair is made in limited quantities. The intensive process of creating each one takes many days therefore creating a unique piece each time.

No chair will ever be identical to another.
